Bicol’s new batch of agricultural technologists and agriculture extension workers accepts the challenge of Rice Specialist training at Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) Bicol as part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP).

Lectures in Module 1 include Transformational Leadership Frameworks, Adult learning, Team Building, Solidarity and Community Building, Briefing on Palay Check FFS, and Organizing Farmers in Palay Check Field School. Currently, courtesy calls to local officials and ground working on-site (FGD) are being conducted by the participants as part of the training. Module 1 is expected to end this June 17, 2022, while Module 2 will start on July 4, 2022.

The RSTC is a component of the RCEF-Rice Extension Services Program, which is part of Republic Act 11203, or the Rice Tariffication Law.

This training course aims to improve rice specialists’ competitiveness and skills in rice seed-to-seed technologies, preparing them for their extension efforts in their respective areas. (DA-PhilRice Bicol, FB)
