NSIC Rc506, Rc508, Rc436, Rc480, Rc402, Rc216, and Rc160 were the farmer-favorites as they were showcased during the 2022 Wet Season PalaySikatan Farm Walk and Farmers’ Forum.

Through the technology demonstration of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed Program, crop performances of different high-yielding varieties were exhibited to over 400 farmer-visitors in 5 techno demo sites in both provinces.

Maribeth G. Pahilangco, a farmer from Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, preferred NSIC Rc506 as the variety that she wants to plant after seeing the crop standing during their farm walk.

“I saw the Rc506 have big grains and healthy stems. It is also more resistant to pests and diseases. If it’s made available in our market, I would like to plant it in my own field,” she said.

The farm walk and forum was held from August 23-26, 2022. Several PalaySikatan Field Days will be conducted across regions 10, 11 and 13.
