Saint Jerome’s Parish Multi-purpose Cooperative has just received a Rice Processing System (RPS 1) from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program. The inauguration and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between both parties happened on November 10, 2023, at Brgy. Bakir, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

The RPS 1 consists of one unit of multi-stage rice mill with a capacity of 1.5 tons/hour and two units of recirculating dryers with 12 tons/batch capacity. The system aims to reduce postharvest losses, resulting in a food-secure province with increased income, enhancing the rice processing system quality and efficiency, and farmers’ accessibility to modernized drying and milling facilities.

To add, the cooperative will also receive another recirculating dryer with 6 tons/batch capacity.
Engr. Domingo R. Miranda, Assistant Chief of the Facility Management and Field Operations Division (FMFOD), represented PHilMech Director IV Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, for the inauguration.
