The President of the Philippines and concurrent Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., made his way to the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) to lead the distribution assistance under DA last April 24, 2023, at the PHilMech central office in Nueva Ecija.
 
β€œBilang inyong Pangulo ay asahan ninyo na laging susuportahan ang agrikultura ng ating administrasyon,” President Marcos said in his speech.
 
During his visit, the President was accompanied by PHilMech’s Director IV, Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, as they looked through several agricultural machines, technologies, and products that were on display. Most of these machines and technologies are what is provided to qualified farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) – Mechanization Component.
 
The Chief Executive also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and Kyungpook National University (KNU) of Korea.
 
DA’s KADIWA program was also on display. The President commended the efforts of the local farmers who showcased their products.
 
President Marcos was joined by the Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, Senator Cynthia A. Villar; DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban; Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio “Oyie” M. Umali; Science City of MuΓ±oz Mayor Baby Armi L. Alvarez; Central Luzon State University President Dr. Edgar A. Orden; DA Region III Regional Director Crispulo G. Bautista Jr., and other officials.
