Laguna receives Rice & Coconut facilities

Hundreds of Lagunenses flocked the Laguna Sports Complex as the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) kicked off its two-day event in Santa Cruz, November 4 to 5, 2023.

Through the BPSF, a program of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., DA-PHilMech continued its pursuit to provide rice machines to qualified farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCA) through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program, awarding five beneficiaries with their own four-wheel drive tractors worth almost Php11.5 million.

Said beneficiaries are Sto. Domingo-Maitim Irrigators Association Inc.; Banca-Banca, San Francisco, San Felix, San Roque Irrigators Association, Inc.; Pila Laguna Agricultural Cooperative; Bagong Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Pila, Laguna, Inc.; and Tubuan-Tanza Irrigators Association, Inc.

On the other hand, the agency, in collaboration with the Philippine Coconut Authority, awarded the Lawaguin Multi-Purpose Cooperative with a Coconut Sugar Processing System, also worth almost Php11.5 million, under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) – Shared Processing Facility.

The President, who was duly represented by Special Assistant to the President, Antonio Lagdameo, Jr., was joined by Laguna Governor, Hon. Ramil Hernandez; 2nd District Representative of Laguna, Ruth Mariano-Hernandez; PHilMech’s Director IV, Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, and PCA-IV Regional Manager, Bibiano Concibido, Jr., in awarding the beneficiaries.
Head officials and representatives from participating agencies were also present to show their support.

According to Gov. Hernandez, around Php 300 million worth of assistance is readily available to 70,000 locals with 160 services offered by the country’s largest service caravan.
