TANTANGAN, South Cotabato- Twenty-five seed growers in Region XII and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has participated in the 3-day Refresher Course on Inbred Rice Production and Certification for the seed growers last June 19, 2024, at the ALC Hall of ATI-RTC XII, San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
On behalf of the OIC-Center Director, a warm welcome was extended by Engr. Jun Rey L. Samillano, Agriculturist II, the OIC-Section Head of PAS, to the participants from Region XII and BARMM.
The technical staff of the RCEF Program, Mr. Joseph M. Simpao, introduced and explained the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) implications to farmers. Along with this, the discussion included the seed program, mechanization program, as well as the credit program. Moreover, the Overview of the Program and Status of the Rice Industry in Region XII/Philippines was discussed by Mr. Jason V. Abang, the RCEF Program technical staff. Emphasis was given to the Philippine Rice Industry Situation, further elaborating on the importance of seed growers in the rice industry and the challenges faced. The participants actively participated in an informative dialogue.
