First batch of trainees on pest and nutrient management finished their training on July 8, 2022 at Villar Sipag Farm School, San Miguel, Iloilo

A week of training equipped farmer-trainers and farm school owners with knowledge and skills in identifying insect pests of rice, diagnosing and managing major rice diseases, and concepts and principles of nutrient management, including fertilizer computation.

The Training of Trainers (TOT) on Pest and Nutrient Management is part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP), a component of Republic Act 11203 or Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) authored by Sen Cynthia A. Villar. The RTL allocates P10 billion annually to enhance rice farmers’ capacities to become competitive in rice production.
