IBA, Zambales — A total of 760 rice farmers in the province has received financial assistance from the Department of Agriculture at the Zambales Sports Complex last Tuesday, 20 June.

According to the DA Central Luzon, the financial assistance is thru the Regional Rice Banner Program wherein each beneficiary will receive P5,000 under the  Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund — Rice Farmers Financial Assistance Caravan.

These 760 farmer beneficiaries are registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture.

Rice Program Focal Person — Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III Lowell Rebilliaco led the distribution of financial assistance and provided information regarding the RCEF-RFFA.

Also present during the caravan are Officer-In-Charge  Provincial Agriculturist Crisostomo Rabaca, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Zambales Gil David, Staff of the Governor of the Office of Zambales Community Affairs Relation Officer Erick Matibag and Cooperative Development Specialist II from Provincial Cooperative Development Office Albert Aquino.

The farmer beneficiaries expressed their gratitude after receiving financial assistance. These farmers are from Cabangan, Botolan and San Antonio.

Cris Persia then led the RFFA payout to the farmers.

Rebilliaco said that the general idea of the caravan is to provide cash assistance to farmer beneficiaries under Republic Act 11203 or the Rice Tarriffication Law under the RCEF.

The funds for the assistance come from the excess tariffs collected from rice importation.

Farmer beneficiaries should have at least two hectares or less to be qualified and should be registered under the RSBSA. (Jonas Reyes, Daily Tribune)
